The Yard HBCU Send-Off presents the 3rd Annual HBCU Send-Off as a part of Ohio’s Toni Morrison Celebration 2026. This in-person family event honors students preparing to attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities while highlighting the literature of Toni Morrison through interactive activities exploring her work and her HBCU experience at Howard University.
HBCU-bound students will receive a free copy of Toni Morrison’s books Beloved and Sula, and children will have the opportunity to interact with her book Peeny Butter Fudge. This outdoor event is designed for the whole family and celebrates Black culture, student achievement, and the enduring legacy of HBCUs in Cincinnati.
The event will take place on May 30, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 3470 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. This program is free and open to the public.
