In Circulation presents The Making of a Toni Morrison Exhibition Substack beginning September 11, with free weekly updates offering a behind-the-scenes look at the development of an exhibition exploring Toni Morrison’s remarkable career as an editor at Random House.
Drawing on Morrison’s editorial files at Columbia University’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library, In Circulation follows Morrison at work as an editor, advocate, literary thinker, and publishing strategist. Each week, subscribers will get a look at discoveries from the archive as the exhibition takes shape, including Morrison’s editorial work with authors such as Angela Davis, June Jordan, Lucille Clifton, Henry Dumas, Muhammad Ali, and Gayl Jones. The exhibition opens in January 2027.
