Join Beloved: Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison for an afternoon community read-in honoring Lorain native Toni Morrison on September 4, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Oberlin, Ohio. Community members are invited to stop by throughout the afternoon to read a favorite passage from Toni Morrison’s work, listen to others, and celebrate her enduring literary legacy. At 3:30 PM, participants are invited to walk together to the Toni Morrison Society’s Bench by the Road, while listening to selections from Morrison’s writing. The afternoon concludes with a community tribute at 4:00 PM at the bench, followed by a special tour of a soon-to-be-announced exhibition at the Allen Memorial Art Museum.
