The Cincinnati-area Ohio Celebrates Toni Morrison Consortium will present a multi-part series of public programs across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky between September 2026 and early 2027, honoring the life, writing, and legacy of Toni Morrison.
Led by the Harriet Beecher Stowe House in collaboration with regional university partners and cultural organizations, this series will explore Morrison’s work through a range of formats and locations. Planned programs include literary discussions, community read-outs, children’s programming, lectures, and place-based events that connect Morrison’s writing to the history of Margaret Garner and the Ohio River Valley.
Confirmed and proposed events within the series include:
- A Margaret Garner and Black Cincinnati Bus and Walking Tour
- Children Celebrate Morrison programs featuring Morrison’s children’s books
- A Black women writers read-out and lecture
- A Toni Morrison–focused book club series through the Stowe House’s Voices for Truth program
- Additional community conversations and commemorative projects connected to Morrison’s work and legacy
Events will take place at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House and other partner locations throughout the greater Cincinnati region. Specific dates, times, and event details will be announced as planning is finalized.
This series is free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
