Hosted by Jump at the Sun Early Learning in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Iota Phi Omega Chapter, this monthly children’s reading group invites children up to ten years old to explore the wonderful world of reading and learning through the children’s books of Toni Morrison. The program is designed to introduce new families and young readers to the joys of language and to create hands-on activities that leave a lasting impression on the little ones.
The reading group meets once a month on the 18th, unless the 18th falls on a weekend, in which case the session will be held on the Friday prior. Each session includes a reading of a Toni Morrison children’s book followed by a simple craft activity. All sessions take place from 12:00–1:00 PM at 1510 Cooper Foster Park Road, Lorain, Ohio.
With many children facing challenges in literacy, this program aims to engage children through fun and imaginative language in a welcoming community setting. Additional events hosted by the organization are currently being planned and will be shared as details are finalized.
