About

Briggs Lawrence County Public Library presents Beloved: Lighting the Way, a recurring lantern walk and guided, place-based history experience taking place in Ironton, Ohio from May 16 through June 20, 2026. Beginning at 506 S 6th St. and concluding at 321 S 4th St., participants will move through the community while engaging directly with stories rooted in each location. This experience highlights sites connected to the Underground Railroad, drawing connections between the courage of freedom-seekers, the local residents who assisted them, and Toni Morrison’s Beloved. Scheduled tours will take place on Saturdays at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, with additional tours on June 19 and June 20. Individualized tours are also available upon request. Advance registration for scheduled tours is required at least 24 hours in advance.
