The Andrew Jackson Davison (AJD) Club was formed in 2019 by 7th and 8th grade students to celebrate Athens’ first Black lawyer, Andrew Jackson Davison (1860s–1900s). The club will stage its 7th annual Black History Month event at the Athens Middle School auditorium on Monday, February 24, from 6:00–7:30 PM.
This year’s program will feature an original play chronicling the life of Toni Morrison, including her acceptance speech for the 1993 Nobel Prize for Literature. This well-attended community event is free and open to the public.
